Recognizing Excellence in Medical Coding Professionals

Posted: By Chris Rosa on August 1, 2014

HAP medical codingHAP was recently named as the top medical coding company in this article by Medical Coding and Billing Online, a site dedicated to helping students explore education opportunities within the industry.  In thanking them for this recognition, we also want to take the opportunity to recognize and thank our team of coding professionals for the excellence that they deliver to our clients on a daily basis.

The American healthcare system, in its evolving efforts to provide improved care and costs for consumers, still places a large administrative burden on practitioners.   Medical service coding is just one of the complex tasks that need to be executed efficiently in order to reduce compliance risk and improve practice revenue potential.  For example, the healthcare industry is undergoing a mandated transition from the legacy ICD-9 to the new ICD-10 coding standard, requiring a much deeper level of detail for classifying diagnoses and associated procedures.   In considering how to prepare for the new ICD-10 transition date in October, 2015, practices need to ensure that their coders are proficient in ICD-10 and ready to handle the needs of their specialty.

At HAP, our mission is to enable healthcare providers to maximize the performance of their practice so that they can focus on what they do best: patient care.  We have assembled and trained a staff of coding professionals, including coders certified by the AAPC (American Academy of Procedural Coders), ACMCS (American College of Medical Coding Specialists), or AHIMA (American Health Information Management Association).  We are diligent in maintaining internal coding expertise in all areas of medical practice.  This attention extends to regulatory aspects, contractual differences between payers, and related compliance factors associated with coding.  Our staff coders are certified and assigned by specialty area.

Our coders also benefit from exposure they receive from working within our Revenue Cycle Services Organization.  While most outsource coders never have the opportunity to receive feedback in the form of denial reports, our coders have ongoing transparency into the end result of their work with full-service billing clients. This helps them improve the coding process, helps the practice improve their business performance, and helps HAP earn high and consistent levels of customer satisfaction.

Thank you to Medical Coding and Billing Online for this recognition.  Thank you to our entire coding team for your dedication to professional excellence. And most importantly, thank you to our healthcare practice clients for choosing HAP as your business partner.
